picocom v3.1 c-a c-w closes file/window

since C-w now commonly closes the file/window the application is running in, I am not able to enter HEX as specified by the program. Is there a alternative for this feature? Thanks.
P.S. it will be even better if I can just send ASCII in addition to sending HEX.

I may have a workaround for you. Since I took over picocom, I implemented '--minimal-cmds' which would need C-a w instead of C-a C-w. Currently the feature is only in the git main branch, I hope to release a new version this or next month. You can find it here: https://gitlab.com/wsakernel/picocom
