I have the SE and I'm interested in helping you support my printer!

Unfortunately, it's clear to me that your chops are somewhat in advance of my own, so my ability to help is a little limited, but I can provide photos of my circuit board and might be able to rig up a dump of the ROM and various tests, so please let me know what is most helpful (especially if it's relatively easy to do!)

I used to be a software engineer, but I've not had experience working with embedded hardware except for a little perfunctory tinkering.

Great! Join, the discord: https://discord.gg/9HSMNYxPAM

And yes, photos would be super helpful!

Cool. I've just set my printer off on a printing spree and I'm heading to bed, but I'll see what I can do in the morning :-D

OK, so the printer has more screws than a prison, so it'll take me a little longer to dismantle it enough to get good pictures of the main PCB, but I can see it well enough to know that it's note quite the same as the one at https://github.com/nviennot/reversing-mono4k/tree/main/pcb.

  • It looks like it's essentially the same layout
  • some parts are attached vs. broken out differently (e.g. on mine the power switch is mounted on the opposite side of the case)
  • the numbers for components as printed on the PCB (e.g. C1 for capacitors) don't match (not surprising)
  • the numbers on the major chips are mostly the same, but not completely - not sure if the differences are significant or just serial numbers or the like

Writing on the CPU:
GD32F307
VET6
CK5GTL
JJ2034
GigaDevice
ARM

Numbers on the large "ANLOGIC" chip:
EF2L45LG144B
52013114420335

I'll update here when I've managed to get the board separated enough for a good flat photo.
