Calendar Popup to insert a new date

Hi, I was wondering if it would be reasonable to be able to create a date using the calendar popup, not edit an existing one but insert a new one.
It could use the same key bind (cid) and just insert a new date if it doesn't detect one under the cursor or edit the date under the cursor if there is one.
