Dear open80211s team,
When I use some android phones to scan, I will find not only SSID but also
mesh ID??! Two wifi will pop up.
The test phones can be LG G6, Samsung S8, S7…
While iphone has no such issues.
Can anyone indicate me if it is 11s bug or Android bug that I should
report to them?
Thanks!

I have observed the same. The MeshID is only present in mesh beacons.
Given that Android devices cannot peer with 802.11s nodes, I would consider
that a bug in their stack.
Cheers,
Javier

wpa_supplicant can return mesh ids in an active scan if mesh is compiled
in; my guess is something like that is happening but they didn't bother to
filter them out, either at wpa_s level or in the UI). I wonder though
why mesh is built in (assuming they are using wpa-s) if the client
can't connect.
(commit fbca4c893d3de77e012e16956f694dfc15be97c2 in wpa_supplicant added
that).

Sigh. Its so annoying. I already posted it in Samsung Community. They reply as this "This isn't a bug, this is actually your phone detecting multiple radios or "wifi" which is required for mesh networking." I think they just try to feed me some shit message.. Here is a link if you are interested in this drama: [https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-S-Phones/A-bug-for-Galaxy-S8-with-mesh-routers/m-p/261511/highlight/false#M45170] |
