Cannot Redeem GitHub Student Developer Pack

Hi everyone,

Long story short, I lost access to one of my old GitHub accounts a while back because I lost its corresponding mobile authenticator and recovery codes.

This wasn't a huge issue, as I was able to unlink my emails and create new GitHub accounts, though I lost some of my private repositories.

I really think it is stupid that there is no other way to recovery a GitHub account if you lose access to your authenticator and recovery codes (which would seem like a common thing)...

Anyway, this was not a big problem until recently, as one of my university's software engineering classes requires me to redeem the GitHub Student Developer Pack under my student email; however, I already redeemed the GitHub Student Developer Pack for that old GitHub account that I lost access to a while back, and can't use the Developer Pack for my class.

Am I cooked?

It's not possible to transfer student benefits from one account to another or to submit a new application using another account with the same academic email.

Anyway, contact support by opening a ticket here, select "Other" and ask if anything can be done.
