Certainly wouldn't dispute that we need it as a feature; it's been on my radar for a while. It just may take some time to get to it (as it's non-trivial). |

Preface:
This idea was introduced to me in the discord, and I was linked this post. I'd recommend taking a look at the original post, and get a peek into the discourse around stemlets circa 2016.
Idea:
Introduce Stemlets/Half Stems into MuseScore 4.
What is that?
A stemlet is a half stem that is placed over 8th, 16th, and shorter rests to provide additional clarity and easier reading.
Here are some examples of stemlets:

Why should it be in MuseScore?
Stemlets allow for additional clarity and easier reading for rhythmically intricate passages. While a workaround exists, it is cumbersome and it would be much easier as a supported feature. Stemlets seeing more robust support would encourage the writing of passages that have more complex rhythms, but are still easily readable without having to look for a long time. Additionally, Sibelius, Finale, and Dorico all have built-in support for stemlets, and we can't let them beat us.
To demonstrate the increased ease of reading, see this demonstration:
