Hello i want to contribute to make OSSEC be accessible to opensuse so this little guide will help those users to have a working installing, the rpm for fedora/centos/redhat will work on opensuse too, they are close to the same FS hier.

OpenSUSe needed packages for OSSEC to be installed:

The next will install basic devel for compilation if is used the tar.gz

  • zypper in -t pattern devel_basis

Depencies devels

  • zypper in libevent-devel pcre2-devel libopenssl-devel

After this the default installation process of the script will continue without problem and the default configuration work 100% include the email configuration of the script.

Now you have a functionally working OSSEC on OpenSUSe Leap/Tumbleweed, and can start customizing using the official Docs without any problem.
