We should make tools in the P4 ecosystem more widely available. Currently, we only have a debian package which is not well maintained. Among others the NixOS ecosystem has a rich package manager and repository hub which we could integrate with.

My colleague @alexandergall has written Nix packaging for the Barefoot/Tofino SDE, see https://github.com/alexandergall/bf-sde-nixpkgs

This is great, didn't knew about this. Once the Tofino SDE is fully open-source this should be easier to set up.
