[bug] workspace applet in the dock or the panel doesn't seam to function after a while

My system is now running for 1 day, 23 hours, 18 mins and maybe that's a correlation with the actual problem....

once I press the workspace button on the dock, panel or the numbered workspace switcher, it doesn't open the workspace overview.
