This is a long-term feature request to add OpenXR support to the COSMIC desktop. The Monado runtime could potentially be used. The goal is to enable integration with XR headsets like the XREAL Air 2 Pro, allowing users to create virtual displays similar to the Apple Vision Pro experience. Since the desktop is still in alpha and hasn’t reached a 1.0 release, considering this feature early could help prepare it for future XR use cases.

AFAIK, that would only be one component.

Also you should be using wlxoverlay for virtual displays

Yeah, but that’s what I mean—it would be nice to have it integrated so you can easily create and manage virtual displays directly in COSMIC itself. For example, something like how macOS handles it with the Vision Pro.

Anyway its ultimately up to system76 if they want to duplicate wlxoverlay

There's also stardust which is way more powerful than anything wlxoverlay or cosmic could
