keys buffer and lag issues

A couple of days ago I started having some weird issues. I assumed my keyboard was dying or something but it turned out to tbe Karabiner Elements (v15.3). I closed it, re-opened it, and the issues were gone.

It's like there's some kind of buffer with all key events and sometimes this buffer is not "released" until some time has passed if that makes sense.

Sometimes the buffer takes a bit to release the key up even so it's like I'm pressing they key for longer and macOS displays that annoying popup with key variations (accents, etc).

Sometimes while I'm writing and they text is not written until a second or so later when suddently a chunk of text is written all at once. Or maybe I'm using the arrow keys on Finder and the selection doesn't move and then it jumps a couple of files.
