Doesn't RN come already with cookie support?

I wonder why we can't use the cookie manager that RN internally uses and need another plugin. Is there any discussion on the RN side I might be able to read about this issue?

I am asking cause I am getting a growing number of app crashes because this plugin does not properly handle the case on Samsung devices, when no webview is available. RN side has this covered in numerous patches (also referenced here in some of the issues).

And I wondered why this has to be implemented twice.
