Verification

• I searched for recent similar issues at https://github.com/rust-lang/rustup/issues?q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen%2Cclosed and found no duplicates.
• I am on the latest version of Rustup according to https://github.com/rust-lang/rustup/tags and am still able to reproduce my issue.

Problem

I cannot install or run rustup-init.exe. Keeps getting quarantined and blocked

Steps

dowload https://static.rust-lang.org/rustup/dist/x86_64-pc-windows-msvc/rustup-init.exe . immediately gets flagged by windows defender and quarantineds

It should just be a matter of updating your virus definition files (or waiting for your organisation to do so).

I uninstalled all my rust files since I am trying to install on a new drive so I cant run rustup set auto-self-update disable

I already updated the windows defender definitions according to this info: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/defenderupdates

cd %ProgramFiles%\Windows Defender
MpCmdRun.exe -removedefinitions -dynamicsignatures
MpCmdRun.exe -SignatureUpdate
