This is a proposal for a revamp of the /get-involved page.

We should decide as a group on the specific changes needed, and someone should build a mock-up before we start implementing any of this.

I think the /get-involved page should have different sections for the different parties that can be involved with SDTH.

Each section should have specific actionable links to make it easy to actually get involved.

Business / Institution

Links:

  • sign up to be a sponsor for SDTH
  • sign up as a venue to host events
  • contact an education pillar lead about starting an apprenticeship program
  • post a job opening in slack
  • host an open house for prospective employees / students
  • contact the innovation pillar about open sourcing an internal tool you've built

Individual

Links:

  • sign up as a mentor
  • sign up as a mentee
  • sign up as a Pillar Lead
  • RSVP to upcoming meetups
  • volunteer for an upcoming meetup
  • sign up to give a presentation at an upcoming meetup
  • sign up to host a new meetup (like a local Open Source Saturday)
  • join the SDTH development team
  • add yourself as a Founding Member of SDTH on LinkedIn
  • tweet about SDTH
  • join the SDTH slack

Thoughts from my end:

How will the mentors and mentees will be Matched in the database?

Simple Calendaring - for example when both parties have decided on a meeting time, having a the information easily synced to either google, Apple, office 365, etc calendar.

The forms the mentor and mentee will complete online and the information that’s is needed on each form.

Where will the information be stored; databases.

Do we want reporting on who has been matched vs who hasn’t been matched vs what there is a need for

Hi,

These are my notes from the meeting:

Requested Updates for 04/30 meeting

We had a meeting on 04/13/2019 and discussed what updates would be great for the 04/30 meeting, what is possible to do etc.

Attendance:
Claude Jones
Steph Huynh
Kevin Brewer
Gillian Benjamin
Peter Tiszavolgyi

Goal:
The goal is to implement a call to action feature to the home page and update the /get-involved page so people can find out how they can get involved.

Tasks:

  • Update the home page, insert a new section below the header above the “3-STEP APPROACH…” section. It is basically a highlighted button/link to the /get-involved page. “Find out how to get involved!”

  • Update the /get-involved page:
-- List the currently running programs (Mentor/Mentee program, Be The Boss etc.) with a link to their Google Forms. These google forms managed by the program leaders, so they will receive notifications, they can export the list of people who subscribed etc. With this solution we do not have to manage each form on the website.
-- Add additional action items like sign up as a mentor, sign up as a mentee, sign up to be a sponsor for SDTH, sign up as a venue to host events etc.

Current update:

Completed: Info for each initiative program for the get-involved page has been filled-in in the CMS.

There is a sign-up button for each initiative that routes to the respective program's google form.
Each program contact name links to their respective email address.

In-progress: Page styling.
