Summary

How to publish remotely a web application to a Scaleway instance with Windows Server using Web Deploy, a single-click/single-command deployment tool.

  • Configuring the Windows Server instance
  • Set up a website in Windows Server's IIS
  • Publish the application directly from Visual Studio

Why is it needed?

Windows instances are now available in compute, where publishing a web application is a common scenario. Other Cloud vendors such as Azure already have pre-configured deployment tools, reinforcing vendor lock-in. Hence, this tutorial is about how to configure Scaleway's Windows Server instances to achieve the same goal.
