Changing the buffer size

I open the software and go into File / Preferences then i try to change the buffer size from 96 to 256 and windows prompt says the following: A Problem caused the problem to stop working correctly Windows will close the program ....
It seems when i changed the buffer size to 96 one time it never changed even after i uninstalled the program. When i reinstall it's preference is still on 96 and when i try to change the settings and press OK or Apply it Crashes.
I simply want to reset it back to default and delete the history file that contains the last previous settings in preferences.

Try following the suggestion in #528 and feel free to either close this if that works, or lmk if not.
