Since the sources of the SimPEG website can be found in https://github.com/simpeg/simpeg.github.io, I think it would be better to archive this repo and add a note in the README pointing to that one instead.

Agreed, proposal:
Put in a final PR to redirect, rename to old-website? and archive!

Also rediscovering all our old blog content from 2014-2015. :)

Can resurrect this at some point in the future if we want!

I haven't checked it out, but I suspect there might interesting stuff in there. An option would be to have this website under legacy.simpeg.xyz, something similar to what we have with https://legacy.fatiando.org

I think that it might be worth bringing the content back in the future, but this version of the website used an old version of app-engine for its deployment. I think a link back to this issue from the current website is probably enough for now. Will add now.
