Lets work together to find a list of local event calendars and post SCALE, Ubucon Summit and our other events to it. Please post here when you identify a site or post to it, so we dont duplicate.

@lcafiero and @joerenzullo suggested the following text:

Now celebrating its 14th year, the Southern California Linux Expo SCALE 14X is the largest Linux and Open Source Software show in North America. The four-day event -- from Jan 21-24, 2016, at the Pasadena Convention Center -- attracts top speakers and exhibitors from all over North America. Sessions and workshops range from beginner tutorials to seminars for experienced system administrators or software developers. In addition, specialty seminars prior to the weekend are conducted by various groups in the Free and Open Source Software community. @lcafiero Do you have any text you'd like folks to use when submitting here?

@joerenzullo would you be willing to take a stab at submitting us to some of these calendars?

@lcafiero Here is the text Dennis Rex wrote a few years back. I've updated it for this year. Any edits?

Now celebrating its 14th year, SCALE has become one of the premier regional Open source software shows. Increasingly it's able to attract top speakers and exhibitors from all over North America. Content ranges from beginner tutorials to seminars for the experienced system administrator or software developer. And specialty seminars on Friday are conducted by various groups in the Free and Open Source Software community.

@joerenzullo Thanks for the earlier suggestions, would you be up for grabbing the text @lcafiero provided and submitting it to the list of calendars we have here? Even if you can only do a few that'd be helpful.

@irabinovitch I'll definitely be able to do this. I'll send out information starting tomorrow and will keep track here of which institutions I have contacted, and responses I receive, as I go.

Edited the text a little. The version @lcafiero offered had a minor repetition:

"...

..."

This is the version I'll be using:

@joerenzullo thanks for diving into this. Were you able to get started? I might have sometime to help next week so want to make sure we aren't duplicating submissions.

@joerenzullo

@irabinovitch I have started, though haven't got more than about 10 done so far.

How do I update the list you posted?

@joerenzullo still working on this one?

Looks like someone grabbed the pasadena star. So I've checked that off. We're actually listed there about 5 times.

@irabinovitch I am! I'm responsible for at least one of the Pasadena Star entries (possibly two?).

This week I'm socked in with final exams and grad school applications, but from Saturday on I'll have the time to handle whatever remains incomplete on this list.

@irabinovitch Also, at least for me on Chrome in Linux, the checkbox isn't editable by me. But I'll keep my own list and post here occasionally if it ends up taking more than a day for me to finish (so that we don't duplicate work).

@irabinovitch That worked!

I'll update what I've done as soon as I get a chance.

@irabinovitch

Just did the Pasadena Weekly, OC Register, City of Pasadena, Discover Los Angeles, and marked a few of the ones I had already done.

Will continue to update the list as I go through it. Now that my semester is over and finals are out of the way, I'll have much more time to devote to this!
