Recommended Communication Channel for Contributors

I intend to implement discriminator support for the UI (#2438, #1526 and probably more) since the current presentation on the APIs I'm working on is simply useless for customers.

I have found the basic information I need and I have a rough idea on how I want to display the different models, however what's still unclear to me:

How can I resolve references to objects? In particular, when I access the mappings of the discriminator, I need to resolve the references to the actual models in order to render them. I was unable to find any API in the code to do this. Can anyone assist here? Apparently the IRC is not available anymore, so I'm not sure where I can ask for help.
