We are currently using a kustomize version that's from 2022. New kubebuilder projects are generated with kustomize v5.4.x and up. There's some breaking changes with kustomize 5: https://github.com/kubernetes-sigs/kustomize/releases/tag/kustomize%2Fv5.0.0
