Cannot find module '@tailwindcss/postcss'

I'm building a custom Angular library to encapsulate DaisyUI (which requires Tailwind to be set up). I created the library using Angular CLI with the command:

ng generate library daisy-ui
After that, I followed the instructions from this section of the Tailwind documentation: Tailwind Angular Framework Guide. However, when I try to build the application, I encounter the following error:

Cannot find module '@tailwindcss/postcss'.

Has anyone else faced this issue? I've seen plenty of troubleshooting guides for earlier versions of Tailwind, but there’s very little available for the current version. I'm not sure what I might be doing wrong to resolve this.

Solved

The problem occurred in nextjs15 when trying to update to tailwind v4. I reinstalled @tailwind/postcss and issue solved

I can confirm. I migrated to tailwind 4 and in local environment everything is fine. But in target environment during docker build i saw same error. After npm uninstall and npm install the error is gone. the package lock has a bigger change as expected, i guess this was the trick.

just update your node.js version to v22.13.0 and error will be fixed

Somehow the node_modules/@tailwindcss directory is empty during docker build.

I switched to pnpm and everything works.

To anyone that found this issue:

If you got here because you are having this issue on nextjs 15 - maybe you were doing something similar than me. I was porting my TW (v3) config from a project into a fresh nextjs15 one. It automatically comes with a postcss.config.mjs file that references the @tailwindcss/postcss module.

You can remove that one if you intend to keep your v3 setup the same, you only need the postcss.config.cjs there as you already have on the other project.

I came across this when creating a mono repo using shacn/ui with pnpm https://ui.shadcn.com/docs/monorepo, @tailwindcss/postcss is used in the packages/ui/postcss.config.mjs.
