When using editable voids, is it possible to share a history between the main editor and a nested editor?

Title says it all, really.

We are working with some nested editors but realise that undo/redo only works on a per editor basis. I was wondering if it was possible to share the history between the main editor and a nested editor. So if you undo something in the nested editor and you toggle an undo again, it undoes the last action in the main editor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

History is managed by slate-history (enabled in Plate via createHistoryPlugin). There doesn't seem to be a built-in solution for nested editors, so you'd need to write a lot of custom code to make it work the way you want it to.

Yeah, I figured as much. I take it this is not something that will be supported in the future? Editable voids seem incredibly powerful but I feel part of the potential is still untapped.

Generally, improvements to Plate and Slate are community-driven. If you want something to be supported, the best solution would be to make a PR yourself. There's a Slack and a Discord where you can ask for advice about contributions if you get stuck or want to discuss ideas.

Alternatively, you can hire someone with experience working with Plate/Slate to make a PR for you. You can message @zbeyens or myself on Slack/Discord/email, or post in the #jobs channel on Slack if you're interested in that option.

I agree that support for shared history between nested editors would be a useful feature to have, but it's unlikely to be a priority unless someone like yourself takes responsibiltiy for making it happen.
