I have started creating a series of groups, and this has given me a few (possibly self-contradictory) ideas about how to manage them.

The underlying idea is that there potentially are hundreds of routes we'd like to use the Monitor tool on. If you consider the benefits that there would be in using Monitor on networked routes, that makes hundreds of thousands. One level of groups may not be enough to manage such numbers. In addition, there are various stakeholders with possibly different centers of interest: local managers interested in everything related to a local authority, contributors interested only in national hlking routes in one country, etc. Therefore we need to think about hierarchy management.

Idea #1: make hierarchical groups, with e.g. transport modes, continent, country, and a couple of regional levels.
Idea #2: creating a Groups table with the ability to sort lines according to one column: transport mode, network, etc.
Idea #3: creating personal filters, with groups or routes that match certain criteria
