Switch dependency of twitteR to rtweet #26
Comments
I'd be happy to help integrate rtweet. Should reduce some headaches related to authentication too. |
Hi Michael,
Thanks for touching base - that would be awesome if you can help with integrating rtweet. It is on my 'to do' list for the SocialMediaLab package...
Look forward to catching up for a coffee/beer sometime during the conference!
Tim

Hey all! Any estimate on closing this issue would be gladly appreciated- we are looking to use SocialMediaLab in our coursework for students in the fall! |
I forked a branch and started integrating rtweet. I think this could be done relatively quickly! |
Hi @DGaffney, really great to hear you are planning to use SocialMediaLab in your teaching. Apologies that I haven't had a chance to start working on integrating rtweet... Work has been very busy and I have a baby arriving very soon (!). @mkearney, if you are able to make any progress on this problem that would be immensely helpful. I will add you as a contributor. Great to hear this! An early congratulations from us here at Northeastern and thanks much for getting this back on the radar!

Hi @mkearney - I'm presently working on some bug fixes and additional features. If you've found time to start integrating rtweet, I'd be very happy to help via testing etc.! |
The maintainer of the twitteR package posted a deprecation notice 7 months ago on that repo's page (https://github.com/geoffjentry/twitteR), and the issues this library causes (geoffjentry/twitteR#90) seem to be very hard to fix on a fresh install here in March 2017 - any way to move to a different package, such as https://github.com/mkearney/rtweet ?
