Github Organization Ownership #116

@thisIsTheFoxe it will be lovely if you could reach this topic. 😊 |
Hi Piotr, But I'll pass it on, tho.. I do agree that it'd be nice to add repos for the missing years and maybe get some additional support... |
@thisIsTheFoxe thank you so much! 😊 I have wrote a simple script based on GitHub Actions to make it little bit more self-maintained. I also don't complain about the lack of tasks, but I still have a lot of fondness for SwiftStudentChallenge. 😉 |
@thisIsTheFoxe I have tried to reach all of the people visible as Organization Members: @kdspa @kylespadaro-zz @Nicholas714 @Schemetrical and @zmknox . Unfortunately, without any result... I would like to prepare repositories for the 2024 and 2025 Swift Student Challenges before the submission deadline. I will need to personally reach out to the previous edition’s participants. It is only two weeks. |
@piotrekjeremicz we've talked a little bit internally about what the plan should be, and are still figuring it out. I didn't previously have owner perms, but I now do. I do intend on giving more folks permission to help maintain these repositories, as I think they're a valuable resource. I apologize for not responding to you in the past. I didn't want to say or promise anything without having a definitive plan (and it's regretfully often easy to shrug off cold emails and replies). I don't have any final answers for you today, but know we are talking about this and will get back to you. |
Thank you very much for your answer. I'm sorry that I pinged you so intensively through many channels. I wanted to know if the organization is still working. -> Firstly, yes. Those repositories are highly valuable for new participants in the Swift Student Challenge and for us, retired scholars and previous winners. It is a kind of story of this event that continues to inspire and bring back good memories. -> The second thing I’d like to propose is my help and time. We have another year without its own repository, and it would be worthwhile to collect data from the previous year as well. This is an opportune time during the current submission period. If you like to talk or meet online, feel free to ask. I'll be happy to get to know myself. 😊 -> Last but not least, there are excellent tools that can help us optimize the review process. I’ve created a simple GitHub action script that collects submissions in a structured format and automatically generates a README.md file with a sorted list. This reduces conflicts and rejected pull requests. Take your time! 🍀 |
To whom it may concern,
It appears that the repositories are somewhat neglected at the moment. Would you be interested in gaining some new supporters?
I’d be delighted to assist in catching up and creating repositories for the upcoming year 2025 and the past one - 2024.
I’ve won the Swift Student Challenge (formerly the Apple Scholarship) four times. Now, I’m helping a few people prepare their applications, and I remembered the repositories containing the competition entries.
Waiting for some answer 😊
