Dear Sebastian,

If you have time and interest, would you kindly consider an alternative approach to this project's implementation:

  • Use OpenStreetMap as the base layer for the map
  • Add coffee places to OpenStreetMap for them to appear on the map

This approach might be a bit more complex than the current one. However, it is clearly aimed at geeks, and geeks are not easily scared of complexity :)

This website serves as a good starting point for OpenStreetMap:

Thank you.

Hi,

Thanks for this input.

I do agree that OpenStreetMap street maps is more geeky approach, and could easily fit to this page.

My view:

  • using google maps has one power feature that is really hard to fined elsewhere , namely StreetView.
  • following current approach is a bit time consuming already, and since this project is is my free time only, I'm trying to reduce amount of work that 'adding places' related.

but ...

I'm planing to use something called GeoJSON
#38

Which uses OpenStreetMap as a rendering layer.

Thanks
