Large files cause Atom to crash

Using a large C file with ~22000 lines and more than 10000 functions and defines causes the entire editor to hang. Perhaps a loading dialog is needed or some sort of incremental load of the functions, at minimum it would be nice if it was reported the file is too large and just disable functionality on the file.
