Does Zed have a feature like VSCode where you click the run (or compile and run) button and the software is automatically ran

Hi al, is the only way to run code in Zed via changing directory in the terminal and running it inside the terminal or is there a button I can press?

This feature is a must for an IDE.

I could be great if that could be done without even setting anything, as Zed could detect the language and compile accordingly.

There are https://zed.dev/docs/tasks for certain languages that provide them + you can define your own.

Those are not coming with a button to click, but with a keybinding to press.

Great observation, that's where the button was originally before it got removed.

could you not have it functional and then just leave the user to bind it to a key if the UI wad the concern

sorry, yes essentially allowing the user to have a custom keybinding

Seems, that you can do that up to certain degree at least.

I do not think there is a dedicated place for the proposals, the discussion seems good enough?
