As pointed out in #24125, it would be nice to be able to set which web browser is used to open links in the Zed editor. Having an entry in the
settings.json
called something like "web_link_opener" will give users more customizability over the Zed experience.Let's say, for instance, that I normally use Google Chrome to browse the web, but want to open my API documentation links in a lightweight web browser. Zed currently opens links in the user's preferred web browser, which is system-defined, with no ability to control that.
Apart from that, as stated in the aforementioned #24125, setting the preferred web browser from within Zed would sidestep any underlying issue with the default application system, which may not always work as expected.
