Automatically split recording of stream into chunks

Note: Since OBS 28 the option to split recordings based on various parameters is built in.

The following macros will allow you to automatically split your local recordings into chunks of a specified duration by stopping and automatically restarting the local recording.

First a macro needs to be set up which automatically stops the recording in a specified time interval.

A second macro is needed to automatically restart the recording if the stream is active.

Note that while stopping and restarting the recording you could potentially miss a few seconds of your stream.
