Home Assistant Tab: Systems

Purpose

This tab provides a holistic look at the various software/hardware systems I want to monitor. It contains several cards:

  • Battery Levels
  • Links
  • Network Speed
  • Pi-hole
  • Raspberry Pis
  • Versions

Battery Levels

Purpose:

This card shows battery levels that I want to monitor (with underlying automations notifying me when they go below a certain level). Easy peesy!

Relevant Items:

Links

Purpose:

This card contains links to several system configuration webpages that I want to easily access.

Relevant Items:

Network Speed

Purpose:

This card contains information to help me make sure I'm getting the speed my ISP claims I am. I also track the number of days before the SSL certificate protecting my Home Assistant instance expires

Relevant Items:

Pi-hole

Purpose:

This card contains information about how many ads Pi-hole is slaying across my network.

Relevant Items:

Raspberry Pis

Purpose:

Each Raspberry Pi in my network gets its own card. With each, we can see uptime, disk and memory usage, temperature, and can control the on/off state of the various Docker containers on that host.

Relevant Items:

Versions

Purpose:

I use these sensors to monitor the:

  • currently installed version
  • highest available version

...of software I care about.
