# luvi
# About this Project

This is a modified version of the [Luvi](https://github.com/luvit/luvi) Lua runtime, primarily with the goal of iterating on various ideas and seeing how it will turn out.

If you aren't familiar: Luvi provides a Lua environment based on the [LuaJIT](luajit.org/) compiler, with builtin C libraries like [libuv](https://libuv.org), [OpenSSL](https://openssl.org/) and [miniz](https://github.com/richgel999/miniz).

It also includes facilities to create self-contained executables from your Lua scripts and serves as a foundation for the [luvit](https://github.com/luvit/luvit) runtime.

Experimental changes living in this fork:

* Streamlined builds (regular-amd64 luvi for WIN/OSX/UNIX)
* Added standardized interface for Lua extensions (and primitives required by them)
* Added builtin path resolution (ported code from [V8](https://v8.dev/) & [NodeJS](https://nodejs.org/))
* Added test suite for primitives and extensions (as a Luvi bundle)

Whether these are good ideas, only time will tell :)
