📌What is JPA and Hibernate?

Java Persistence API (JPA) is a specification that helps manage relational data in Java applications. It defines a standard way to map Java objects to database tables, making it easier for developers to perform CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) operations without dealing with complex SQL directly.

Hibernate is an open-source ORM (Object-Relational Mapping) framework that implements JPA. It allows developers to work with database entities as Java objects, simplifying database interactions. Hibernate takes care of SQL queries, transactions, and connections, making it easier to build Java applications that connect to databases.

🚀 Features

  • Entity Mapping:

    • Create Java entities that represent database tables, facilitating seamless object-relational mapping (ORM).
  • CRUD Operations:

    • Implement comprehensive Create, Read, Update, and Delete operations for managing book records effectively.
  • Relationship Mapping:

    • One-to-One Mapping: Define a direct relationship between two entities, ensuring data consistency.
    • One-to-Many and Many-to-One Mapping: Establish relationships where one entity can be associated with multiple entities and vice versa.
    • Many-to-Many Mapping: Manage complex associations using join tables to connect multiple entities efficiently.
  • Inheritance Mapping:

    • Utilize various strategies to manage class hierarchies:
      • Single Table: Store all entities in a single table, optimizing for simpler queries.
      • Joined Table: Use separate tables for subclasses linked to a parent table, maintaining a normalized structure.
      • Table per Class: Each class has its own dedicated table, useful for distinct entities without common fields.
  • Lifecycle Callbacks:

    • Employ JPA lifecycle callbacks like @PrePersist and @PostPersist to execute business logic automatically during entity state transitions.
  • Dynamic Queries:

    • Leverage the JPA Criteria API to build dynamic and type-safe queries for retrieving data based on various conditions.
  • Transaction Management:

    • Ensure data integrity and consistency by managing transactions effectively, utilizing Spring’s transaction support.
  • Pagination and Sorting:

    • Implement pagination and sorting mechanisms for efficient data retrieval and display in large datasets.
  • Caching: Improve performance by caching frequently accessed data.

    • Data Validation: Use Hibernate Validator to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
