Project & Infrastructure Manager, Convesio
I've been involved in computers since 1981, started writing code on C64, then Apple BASIC, then co-authored a VisiCalc app for tracking finances of a McDonalds franchisee. I've been on the interpreted languages side of the house ever since. BASIC, Visual BASIC, VB.NET, bash, php, and now learning JavaScript (mostly Node).
In 1995-1997 I co-wrote a Microsoft Access app which managed run records and quality improvement statistics for American Medical Response in Jackson,MS, along with managing IT for 1/3 the state of Mississippi and 1/2 the state of Lousiana for AMR. In 2005 I wrote a VB.NET app for my remote radio news company, Virtual News Center, which is in use today.
In my day to day job, I manage the cloud infrastructure and am the Producet Manager for Convesio Host. Convesio's suite of E-Commerce scaling tools includes Convesio Convert and Convesio Pay and provides a comprehensive toolset to drive site conversions, payments and scalable E-commerce for business from mon-and-pos to Enterprise.
My career in radio has led to my current passion projects, both being developed using NodeJS. Virtual News Producer is a private repo reworking the VB.NET app I wrote for my company in 2005 and moving it online. I'm also working on some software that runs along with the RadioDJ software (the automation for my online radio station) to manage the sound of the station by keeping music rotations and their placement through the day fresh and ever-changing.
Connected to my Storm Spotting role, I also vounteer with a local Animal Response Team under the direction of the Butler County, KS Emergency Management Agency. Our main post-disaster role is setting up and managing shelters for companion animals (mostly dogs and cats, but birds and exotics too). I am also developing a logistics management tool for Emergency Management, AccSYS, which is currently in a private repo but will be made public in the future. This, too, is a Node project, moving paper- and spreadsheet-based logistics managment into the cloud.
