Add a new job board

https://betterremotejobs.com/

This remote job board is completely free unlike how remote job boards have recently turned into subscription based.

Hello @RichardLitt, may I know why this closed without merge? Thank you.

Hey @Nithur-M. It looks identical to other boards, and I didn't think it justified inclusion. There was nothing about who you are or why this board is different - there are a ton of free job boards. You can't click the pages at the bottom, and your logos aren't always rendering right.

Good luck with your endeavors.

I appreciate the feedback @RichardLitt. But let me explain a little about why I build it in the first place:

  1. I am increasingly seeing more and more remote job boards going behind a paywall recently. Some examples: Remotive, DailyRemote, RemoteRocketship, to name a few.
  2. The other top job boards like We Work Remotely only allows posting from companies that are willing to pay for listing their jobs, this results in a few job listings for job seekers given how bad the market is right now.
  3. Some other job boards aggregate listings from middlemen as I see which feels sneaky.

I am trying to address the above pain points and creating a better job board for remote job seekers. And this project is independently built.

Regarding the feedback about clicking pages at bottom - the job listings are infinitely loaded, which causes the race conditioon for footer. However, you could find the same links on the top filter as well. They are same. The logos are loading fine on my end, can you check it on incognito?

Thank you.

Thank you for your thoughts. I am not interested in bug fixing. If you would like to remove other remote job links here that you do not think are awesome, feel free.

I'd be happy to look again at your site again after six months.

Thank you @RichardLitt, can you give me some example of remote job boards that you think are awesome? This would help me gauge my filters for the awesome job boards.

The ones in this list are probably the best. If some are not worthy, I would again be happy to review a PR removing some of them. That would actually be useful for the list as a whole, and would be appreciated.

Makes sense, Could you replace them with Better Remote Jobs, if they are less worthy than this?

Ok, may I know why this harsh aversion to an indie built project considering it is better than some of the other projects in this list by miles?

Because:

  • I have been maintaining this project for a very, very long time.
  • I constantly get messages about quite bad remote job boards.
  • Most of them are very bad.
  • I've edited the contributing section to make it clear that job boards need to be marked as different doc.
  • You did not do that in your initial post in a way that jumped out at me.
  • I already explained it to you. See this:

Hey @Nithur-M. It looks identical to other boards, and I didn't think it justified inclusion. There was nothing about who you are or why this board is different - there are a ton of free job boards. You can't click the pages at the bottom, and your logos aren't always rendering right.

  • Because I am not sure you are listening when I say No. Sometimes a no is a no. In this case, it's actually not even a no - it's a, "Come back in six months."

This awesome list is not your marketing list. It is a list of resources that I, and the other maintainers, at one point considered awesome. Your list did not currently make that grade. I think that you can do it. I believe in you. Just - go do it. And then come back. I think six months is a decent amount of time for that.

Make yours different. Be amazing.
