My .emacs file and other personal Emacs goodies

Table of Contents

Overview

Personal GNU Emacs configuration file to use the same .emacs file among several machines.

Description

It uses use-package to load packages from the following package repositories:

Install

Put .emacs in any of the default init file paths:

  • ~/.emacs
  • ~/.emacs.el
  • ~/.emacs.d/init.el

After that, first run will take a while installing all the missing packages specified in the file.

Cheatsheet

Custom behaviour notes

Move between windows

  • Go directly to a window from a list of candidates:

Conventions

Conventions followed when adding a package

  • add package summary
  • add source code URL
  • add relevant notes

Example:

;; ace-jump-mode a quick cursor jump mode for emacs
;; https://github.com/winterTTr/ace-jump-mode
;; Other relevant notes
;; (..)
(use-package ace-jump-mode
  :bind
  (("C-." . ace-jump-mode)
   ("C-c SPC" . ace-jump-mode-pop-mark)))
