RedCall is an online tool that can be used by non-profit organizations to mobilize their volunteers during crises in an efficient way.

RedCall was developed in 2019 by Alain Tiemblo, as part of a tech solidarity project organized by BlaBlaCar. RedCall is a non-profit volunteering project, neither Alain nor BlaBlaCar are making money out of it.

The platform has firstly been conceived in light of the needs of the French Red Cross, which currently uses the tool to mobilize its volunteer basis during crises across the whole national territory of France.

During the COVID-19 crisis, 130 Red Cross calls for volunteers have been launched and 2350 volunteers have been mobilized through RedCall.

How does RedCall work?

  • RedCross facilitates the communication with a large audience of volunteers’ On RedCall, you can send communications in a few clicks, selecting the group of recipients, the communication and the channel (SMS or email). Three types of communication can be done through RedCall: closed questions (binary or multiple), open questions or one-way communication.

  • RedCall facilitates the collection of volunteers availabilities In real-time, the platform will register the answers coming from the targeted volunteers and will allow the owner of the intervention to access a recap of the answers, filtered by type of answer (available/not available for example) and by skillset of the (driver, first aid expert etc) and to download the information in a PDF form.
