Terminology

Here's some terminology you may already know, but it helps if we're talking about things in the same way. For the sake of explanation, we're going to try and discuss everything in terms of data and not the content that's displayed in the DOM. When we talk about two components just know that these components can be ANYTHING that's specific to your site. Don't get bogged down in the details of your implementation, just imagine we're talking about some data.
