Importing files

You can import audio files to Musicott in 3 ways clicking on the menu File.

File > Open File... (s)

And select the files you want to import.

File > Import Folder...

Musicott will import all the files in that folder and its subfolders. You can select the extensions you want to be considered in the preferences panel clicking File > Preferences

File > Import

You can also import from your iTunes collection selecting the iTunes Music Library.xml file located on your default iTunes folder. In File > Preferences > Itunes Import Options there are two options you can configure

  • Obtain track information from
    • Itunes info: Select this if you want to retrieve the information that is in your iTunes library. Musicott will write this info into the metadata tags of the file.
    • File metadata info: Musicott will read the track information from the metadata of the file.
  • Hold play count from iTunes: Checking this, the program will keep the play count from iTunes, otherwise the play count for the tracks will start from 0.
