To get a useful image for using directly with SheepShaver or Basilisk II from a compressed Disk Copy image using Disk Copy:

  1. Get the file into an emulated classic Mac
  2. For a .bin or .hqx, first decode the outer layer using Stuffit Expander or other appropriate tool
  3. Run Disk Copy from its icon.
  4. Use the conversion command in the menu, Image -> Convert Image...
  5. Choose the disk image to convert
  6. Choose where to save the converted image, and in the format drop-down choose Read/Write.
  7. Now transfer the data fork part of the resulting file out to the host system, such as, in B2/SS, by copying the file to the host computer using the Unix/This PC/My Computer (extfs) volume.
