Hmm, I don't see why the trailing tilde would cause a problem. It is an example of CLHS 22.3.9.3 Tilde Newline: Ignored Newline (http://www.lispworks.com/documentation/HyperSpec/Body/22_cic.htm). The trailing tilde is supposed to cause the newline and the following white space to be ignored. This is an ordinary formatting operation so if it's actually not working, that suggests a bug in the Lisp implementation. Anyway I'm not going to worry about it, since it's just for printing a warning message, and if it helps maxima-jupyter work on Windows, then that's great.
