Instructions / How to use Note: This requires Async, and will only run on Linux (Async does not support UDP on Mac) 1) To start the program, type make repl. 2) Select a directory you wish to keep in sync with the other computer. Note, we recommend only using it for small files and pictures as the encryption is really slow (The RSA public key is a 400 digit number!). 3) After selection, the chosen directory will automatically be populated with a config directory (this directory will not be synced nor will any subdirectories in the root directory of the user’s choosing) with two files: a pubkey and a privkey. The application will exit, with a message about a missing peerkey. 4) Repeat steps 1-3 on the peer machine on the same network. 5) Add a copy of each peer machine’s pubkey to the other’s config directory with the name peerkey. Now, the two machines will be able to detect each other, send encrypted messages to eachother, and sync automatically. 6) Start up the program on both machines again. If they are on the same network, and the network does not block broadcast packets on the broadcast address (eduroam and redrover do), the two peers should quickly be able to find eachother and start syncing, and now the machines will be in sync with any files that are added to either directory!
