Coordinates of the go board.
Sensei's library [1] lists several systems of coordinates for the standard 19x19 size Go board.
The system shown above must rank as one of the more uncommon ones.

It was inspired by a recent email from fellow games researcher Ryan Hayward, in which he noticed
that the number of legal triangular boards is 19, and that the number of legal games one can
play on this board (under the Logical rules [2]) is 3439.

Having studied Hamiltonian games in our Combinatorics of Go paper [3], I was naturally curious to see
if triangular Go was also Hamiltonian. That is, whether one can play a game that visits all legal positions.

As it turns out, not only can one do so, but (up to symmetry) the game is essentially unique!

That makes it even more natural to use these 19 positions as coordinates, with adjacent rows or columns marked by adjacent markers, just as with traditional coordinate systems.
