  1. buildsystem: bring back the patches folder 

    The folder was deleted in 137fc2d by
accident. This commit just brings it back as its necessary for the
environment to build correctly.

  2. buildsystem: improve compilation speed 

    Compilation speed has been improved by using all the available cores
when compiling dependencies.
